Live in Houghton is a deep dive into an undiscovered subterranean void of textural valleys and melodic horizons – only to be navigated by the luminous sounds of Sha, Tobias Stritt and friends.
The steady breaths of the drone pulls us gently below the surface as Shas playing unfurls throughout the sonic chamber. His simple but weighted hypnotic lines repeatedly call out to us like an emotional echolocation. Direct and insistent, the magnetic calls intertwine with the drone before finding Tobias Stritts subtle shaping, instinctive beats and textural responses.
Though only Sha is present on stage, in the drone we discover James Gilligan’s shimmering pedal steel illuminating Delia Meshlir’s synth and vocals. Below hums Jeremias Keller’s subterranean subbass. Combined, the sounds of Sha and friends allows us to map the sonic terrain, emulating Houghton’s gardens down to Australia’s shores before taking us up to euphoric Swiss alpine heights, dissolving distance into vibration.
This 45‑minute improvisation is not a performance but a reunion of friends—a ritual of listening and trust, where silence and sound entwine, and every tone becomes a call for presence, for gathering for the invisible threads that bind us.
